It has been a while

Hi there all!!! We haven't completely forgotten about our web site, we are just currently very busy with manufacturing our silver range. We will have photos on by the end of the June / July Holidays! Watch this space!!!

feedback on outing

We had a business meeting at Charly's bakery, with two BIG pieces of decadent cake(at 8:30 in the morning - YUMEEEEEEEE!!!!)
The sugar rush made the walking feel like floating-AND WALK WE DID!!!

Nandi needed a two tonned truck to pull me out of Rich Wholesalers!!!
We found amazing silver pieces that we will add to our collection.

Preparing for Adventure

The Holidays are coming up this week, so we've planned to paint the town red (by window shopping up a storm - all that's affordable enough on a student's budget).

We are planning to visit all the suppliers, wholesalers, and new stores (new for us at least) of silver findings and precious stones in advance of our new range - Birth stones and Zodiac stones, it is still in the planning stage, so it will still be a while till you see the dazzling results.

Remember us telling you about interesting ideas in unlikely places??? Well Fatima came up with these AMAZING earings right there in the shop, we dubbed "OUR SECRET PLACE" a place descovered on an adventure only two true friends can have!!!

It was amazing to watch the lights in her eyes going on as the wheels started turning!!! You could see a hundred ideas being born!!! and all of them great!!! You won't want to miss this. Keep watching to see more leather and ceramic ideas come to life!!!!

DATA OVERLOAD - YUMEEEEE!!!!!

Today was informative and very interesting. We had a class meeting with our lecturer Metaxia, and she gave us all kinds of hints and tips about our jewellery, packaging, pricing... and we got very positive feedback from her and the rest of the class. We also got to see all the jewellery that our fellow class mates were making and there is some amazing stuff out there!!!! We are going to have to up our game ;)

Manufacturing week.

This has been a busy, busy week at spice and honey. We've been manufacturing numerous new designs. We've got 2 ranges consisting of crocheting, which is being manufactured by Nandi and a leather range manufactured by Fatima. To Spicy burns the pallet and too sweet rots your teeth, so eventually we aim to combine the 2 design ranges to bring out the best of both worlds.

FUN FUN FUN!!!!

Wow!!!

Do we love this business project or do we LOVE IT? We went walking all over town today, looking for interesting odds and ends to use for inspiration and in our pieces. And boy did we find interesting?! But not before getting lost, sent to all the wrong places, almost getting run over by cars, getting to the right place but not being able to get in, and then finally getting what we were looking for in the most unlikely place!!!

What a day? We should do it again soon!

Our design - crouchet earings

We've got it!!!!

Weve redesigned the image we've downloaded as inspiration and created these crouchet earings. We've used the shape and the dangling beads and kept to copper. We've broken the solid shape into soft patterns with thin colour copper wire and added beads as a boarder and feathers to dangle.

27/01/10 So we begin...

Hi we are Fatima Kader and Nandi Breytenbach, good friends, fellow jewellery students and jewellery lovers, and the insperation behind the name Spice and Honey.

We found this simple yet elegant hoop earing as inspiration for our first experimental range of commercial jewellery. It needs to be made quickly, simply and affordably. It must be fashion forward so it sells like spicy sweet hot cakes!!!
